May 9 on The Story: Drivers who have been dreading the prospect of paying tolls to cross the Interstate Bridge next year got a small reprieve this week; the start of toll collection has now been pushed out to spring 2027. Interstate Bridge Replacement project officials said the federal environmental review process and a traffic and tolling revenue study are both taking longer than expected, and they need to be finished before the state transportation commissions can set toll rates and the project team can install tolling cameras on the current bridges.
