Description
May 2 on The Story: Since taking office in January, President Donald Trump's administration has moved to aggressively downsize the federal government, laying off employees and abruptly terminating grants, many of them already awarded and halfway spent. Impacted programs are in every state and cover practically any topic you can think of. But in Oregon, one caught our eye: crime prevention and support for victims of crime. The Justice Department recently revoked its grants for Oregon-based programs supporting disabled crime victims, youth gun violence prevention, and hate crime reporting. The impacts to individuals and communities are both immediate and unlikely to be fully felt for some time.
