Description
A 32-year-old Pierce County woman was charged Friday with manslaughter after her 5-year-old son died of what was determined to be fentanyl toxicity in March.
Jordan Shank told Pierce County Sheriff's Office (PCSO) deputies she went to bed March 12 with her son around 7 p.m. at a Puyallup home. She was awoken around 4 a.m. by her boyfriend and they found the boy with vomit on him, "blue lips," and not breathing, probable cause documents in the case said. The child was pronounced dead March 13 after first responders attempted to save his life.
Shank, who appeared in court Monday afternoon, faces first-degree manslaughter charges and a $750,000 bail.
“It did not need to happen," said Kelsey Osborne, a family friend. "It was 100% preventable. We did everything we could do.”
