Description
From his apartment, Glen Fishman shared in candid detail how he was tricked into believing a man on the phone was a real Coinbase customer support employee who was just trying to help him unlock his account.
“I was angry. I was embarrassed that I could make a mistake like that…that I could fall for that,” Fishman said to 9NEWS during an interview.
“I just felt totally victimized. A lot of guilt and shame for just making that error,” Fishman said.
Fishman said he’s been using Coinbase -- a popular cryptocurrency exchange accessible through desktop and cell phone apps -- for approximately seven years.
Recently, Coinbase has been making headlines because of hackers who managed to steal some customer data. The company recently warned customers to be wary of imposters using hacked information to socially engineer victims.
It is unknown if Fishman’s data was part of the breach.
