Aurora is home to a new 58-foot-tall public art sculpture. Crews installed "Liberty," a six-story-tall sculpture inspired by the Statue of Liberty, over the weekend at Hogan Park at Highlands Creek at The Aurora Highlands. Weighing 37,000 pounds, the piece was installed with the help of two massive cranes. Created by Belgian contemporary artist Michael Benisty, Liberty features a mirrored polished stainless-steel design. The piece was originally unveiled at the 2024 Burning Man festival in Nevada. "In Every Lifetime I Will Find You," another new work by Benisty, was also installed. The 14-foot-tall, polished steel sculpture depicts a couple embracing. The pieces each stand near The Aurora Highlands' future entrance off Interstate 70. Liberty lives on the south end of Hogan Park at Highlands Creek, near the future southern entrance to The Aurora Highlands off Interstate 70. The Aurora Highlands will, at a later stage of development, open a new access point that will provide drivers with a direct connection from I-70 into the community. To access “Liberty” visitors can take 26th Avenue and turn left on the temporary construction road. This Google Maps link will help direct people to the correct location.
