It is a day to honor and remember those that died while serving in America’s armed services and San Diego observes the holiday in a number of ways. In 1989 reporter Doug McAllister envied the crowds enjoying Memorial Day at La Jolla Shores because he had to work. A special treat though--his daughter Lauren was there with her friends. In 1991 reporter Lorraine Kimel went to Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery for the annual ceremony. Brigadier General Mike Neil spoke about how treatment of Vietnam veterans had improved through the years.
