Description
A Navy lieutenant commander in Vietnam made sure his family had a good Christmas dinner by planning well ahead. Commander Dan E. Fenn, stationed aboard the USS Preble in Vietnam sent Mr. A’s restaurant a check and asked owner John Alessio to provide a surprise dinner for his family. He told the Fenns that they had won the dinner as a prize in a contest…then broke the news when they arrived. Mrs. Fenn received a corsage, and he gave the children Donna, 13, and Danny 12, each a 25 dollar savings bond. The family had steak, salad, and best of all…a cake with Merry Christmas on it.
