Description
Two Florida bikers are expected to be OK Sunday after Florida Highway Patrol investigators said they crashed into an alligator on I-4 in Volusia County Saturday evening.
The unusual encounter happened just after 6 p.m. Saturday when troopers said the two bikers were riding westbound on I-4 near Orange City when they both hit the alligator on the inside lane of the interstate.
The collision caused both bikes to veer off the roadway and into the wood line, where they hit a tree. Both bikers, a 67-year-old man and 25-year-old woman, were taken to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission was called in to assist with the alligator, who troopers said was also injured in the crash.
Troopers are still working to learn the details surrounding the crash, and it remains under investigation.
