Description
A Manatee County middle school teacher was arrested after deputies said she sent an explicit photo to her 14-year-old student on Snapchat.
On March 3, the teen told a school resource deputy at Carols E. Haile Middle School that his teacher, 28-year-old Oliver Fell, had been talking with him through the social media app since December, according to a news release.
He reportedly told deputies that Fell sent him an explicit picture on Jan. 2.
The Manatee County Sheriff's Office investigated, and detectives confirmed the student communicated with Fell multiple times on social media. A search warrant, which allowed officials to access data from phones and social media accounts, showed evidence of lewd conduct, deputies said.
Detectives said they were able to confirm the explicit photo belonged to the teacher.
On May 12, detectives received additional evidence from Snapchat to strengthen the case, and an arrest warrant was issued for Fell. She was charged with second-degree felony lewd conduct with a student by an authority figure and third-degree felony transmission of harmful material to a minor.
Fell turned herself in on June 2 and was booked into the county jail.
