Description
Winter Haven police officers say they caught a high school teacher smoking meth at a park while doing routine patrols on Tuesday night.
It happened just after 10 p.m. at Lions Park on 800 Avenue L SW in Winter Haven.
Officers were doing proactive patrol to ensure no one was at the park between sunset and dawn when they spotted a parked red Toyota Prius.
They reportedly approached the car to find 54-year-old Shane Olson, a world history teacher at Haines City High School.
According to police, Olson told the officers he was unaware that the park was closed and that he pulled over to use his phone because he didn't want to text and drive.
