Description
May marks Stroke Awareness Month, and with stroke cases rising among younger adults, HCA Florida Northside Hospital is at the forefront of rapid response and treatment in Pinellas County.
“When it comes to treating a stroke, time is of the essence,” said Tracy Czop, nurse practitioner with HCA Florida Northside’s Stroke Program. “We usually get a pre-alert from EMS that they have a stroke patient on the way. The entire team is ready from the ER doctor to our TeleNeuro specialist who begins evaluating the patient live via video as they’re wheeled into the CT scanner.”
The hospital’s goal? To get a stroke patient scanned in under 10 minutes.
