May 13 on The Story: It's not a new phenomenon; states often compete with one another to attract big employers. But a recent study from researchers at the University of Oregon found that the state may have a real problem on its hands — more and more companies are receptive to expanding out of state or relocating entirely, and many are following through. That's because they just don't see the advantage to investing in Oregon anymore, due in large part to high taxes and a frustrating regulatory system. Business advocates say the state needs to do more to foster a positive business environment or risk further stagnation as companies decide to take their business elsewhere.
