Dustin Ohm, 29, is now charged with attempted aggravated murder.
Early Friday morning, police responded to his home in Marysville for the report of a domestic dispute. Ohm allegedly fired several shots at officers before fleeing the scene. The chase ended when a Union County deputy shot Ohm on U.S. Route 33. An officer who was injured was released and is doing better.
Ohm remains in the hospital. Police could not report an update on his condition.
At the time of the shooting on Friday, Ohm was serving a 24-month sentence of community control, after he pleaded guilty to gun and drug charges, according to the Franklin County Court of Common Pleas.
His criminal history in Franklin County dates back to 2017 and includes guilty pleas to a felony assault charge and several misdemeanors.
Records obtained by 10TV show that Marysville police have responded to Ohm’s house at least eight times since the start of 2024. The reports range from concerns of domestic violence to suicidal threats and disputes with neighbors.
In late April, a probation officer in Marysville gave Ohm another chance after he allegedly violated probation on a menacing charge, writing he was “complying with counseling."
As the Marysville Division of Police, the Union County Sheriff’s Office and the state BCI investigate the shooting, law enforcement will also look into how Ohm, a convicted felon, was reportedly able to access the gun used in the shooting.
A court date has not yet been set for Ohm to be arraigned on the new charges related to Friday’s incident.
