Description
Hawaii's Kilauea volcano erupted on Friday, the 22nd time since the end of last year.
Kilauea's current eruption in Halemaʻumaʻu crater within Kaluapele began on December 23, 2024.
According to the United States Geological Society (USGS) there have now been 22 episodes separated by pauses in activity.
Footage from USGS showed lava spouting out of the volcano and smoke rising.
It said all eruptive activity remains within Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park.
