Description
It’s not every day you spot a bear in the ‘burbs, but on Monday, things got a little wilder than usual in Herndon.
A large black bear was spotted lumbering near Alabama Drive and Hillwood Court, much to the surprise of neighbors and local authorities. And this wasn’t just any bear. He’s wearing a tracking collar, meaning he’s known to wildlife officials and is likely part of an ongoing monitoring program.
Herndon Police issued a friendly but firm warning: do not approach the bear. Fairfax County Animal Control and the Virginia Department of Wildlife Resources are keeping tabs on the furry visitor to ensure he stays safe, and so do you.
