DC Police said Alexis Schuler, 29, was reported missing on Jan. 10. She was last seen in the 2800 block of Hartford Street, Southeast. DC investigators worked with homicide detectives in Prince George's County on the case.
On Jan. 19, detectives conducted a search warrant at 30-year-old Devontae Gray's home in Capitol Heights. While inside the home, investigators found Schuler's remains. Gray had taken "extensive efforts" to hide her body in her home, according to police.
On Monday, a medical examiner's report found that the woman had been shot. Gray was taken into custody, and he later confessed to murdering Schuler. Detectives believe Gray shot Schuler during an argument.
