Description
Idalia made landfall in the well-forecasted Big Bend of Florida early Wednesday morning. It had briefly strengthened to a Category 4 before weakening back to a Category 3 just prior to landfall. As of the 5 AM advisory, Idalia is still a tropical storm. It is expected to move offshore Thursday and generally remain off the East Coast before either dissipating early next week or being drawn northeast toward the eventual remnants of weakening Hurricane Franklin.
Elsewhere, Tropical Storm Jose has developed in the central Atlantic Ocean and looks to eventually dissipate by tomorrow. The remnants of Gert have a slim chance for redevelopment in the Atlantic. And a tropical wave off of Africa has a high chance for development. No threats to the Gulf Coast at this time.
