Description
There are currently no immediate threats to the Gulf Coast, but we'll need to watch a tropical wave this weekend and early next week as it enters the Gulf of Mexico.
The big question remains who sees the rain from this feature. Right now, guidance is split between Texas seeing the rain or Louisiana seeing the rain. It will all come down to how and where the tropical wave consolidates it's showers and t-storms and how strong the heat ridge is by early next week. The American model keeps our area hot and dry, while the European model gives our area a better shot of rain by Monday/Tuesday. For now, we'll need to give it a couple days to see how things trend. We could use the rain, but it's not a guarantee at this point.
At the moment, guidance suggests development would be slow to happen as the waves track west across the Gulf, and this feature could just be a beneficial rainmaker for some. However, looking at the overall environment, there won't be a lot of wind shear and the Gulf is boiling hot, so models could be underestimating how quickly the wave comes together. Time will tell, which ends up happening.
