The tropics are still fairly quiet, although a few spots are being watched deep in the tropics. There are no threats to the Gulf through this week, but an area of moisture associated with a tropical wave will head into the Gulf this weekend and early next week. While it doesn't look like it will develop into much, it could bring beneficial rain to some locations along the Gulf Coast early next week. Right now, it's too soon to say if we will see the beneficial rain, but it would certainly be welcome. The strength of the ridge to our north will determine if the moisture makes it to us or stays south and heads west towards Texas.
