Sweltering heat will take over for the next week as a big center of high pressure shifts back over us. South winds mean humidity will rise as well. We're expecting rough afternoons near 100 but feeling like 110 or possibly higher when you add in the mugginess. We'll keep a chance for a few spotty thunderstorms each day. These could bring some gusty winds and heavy rain, but they won't be widespread. In the tropics, a wave in the central Atlantic could develop this week. It will take a northward track over the open ocean waters, so it will not be a threat to land. The next name on the list is Emily. No other threats are looming in the next week or more.
