Tropical Storm Arlene formed Friday afternoon in the Gulf of Mexico after winds were determined to have reached 40 mph. The storm is still battling wind shear and dry air, so further strengthening is not expected. The storm will continue its movement southward through the Gulf of Mexico. It will likely be torn apart by wind shear by Friday night or early Saturday. The messy remnant low pressure system will approach Cuba by this weekend. No big impacts are expected along the Louisiana or Mississippi coasts.
