Just one day after Laura Rogne got the keys to her new apartment at Lafreniere Assisted Living in Metairie, she says she was told she’d have to leave. “That’s a lot of stress... a lot of processing,” she said. “It’s just been so difficult.” Rogne is one of several residents who say they were blindsided when they received a memo last week announcing that the facility would close in July. Many, like Rogne, had just moved in. “They’re really sweet people,” she said. “It’s just the way it was handled.” The memo, shared with WWL Louisiana, includes a plan to move current residents to another facility in Baton Rouge.
