Description
A black bear that was spotted roaming near Broadmoor United Methodist Church in Baton Rouge was safely sedated and relocated on Friday night.
According to our partners at WBRZ, law enforcement and wildlife officials responded early Friday after the bear was seen in a tree close to the church. The campus was placed on lockdown to protect staff and summer camp students. By late morning, the bear had moved into a nearby backyard.
Wildlife agents had set a trap baited with donuts the day before to lure the bear. Around 8:30 p.m., crews sedated the bear and relocated him to a wildlife management area. The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries tagged the male bear and collected blood and fur samples before release.
