Description
In your Breakdown: Governor Jeff Landry’s beef with the ethics board lives on in new legislation.
House Bill 674, if passed by the Louisiana Senate, would enact a big overhaul to how the ethics board investigates misconduct. It could make it easier for public officials to dodge consequences after an ethics complaint.
Among other things, it shortens the timeline for charges, requires the board of ethics to determine if the complaint has been rectified, and requires a two-thirds vote of the board to take up the complaint.
