Description
The NHC is watching the Gulf this weekend and next week for development. Models show low pressure forming in the Gulf. The track would take the main impacts to Florida throughout next week. The main threat appears to be heavy rain. Some in Florida could receive up to 10 inches of rain through next week. An upper-level trough and cool front will keep the northern Gulf dry as they steer the low pressure east toward Florida.
Elsewhere, Kirk is a major hurricane in the central Atlantic and, thankfully, will remain over open water. Leslie will follow a path right behind Kirk, which is also forecast to become a major hurricane.
