Description
Tropical development is possible in the Caribbean Sea and eventually the Gulf of Mexico this week. While nothing has formed yet, global weather models indicate a system may try to come together later this week in the southern Gulf of Mexico. The National Hurricane Center is highlighting this area with a "medium chance" for tropical development over the next few days. It is too soon to know what, if anything, will develop and where it will go.
A lot will depend on the upper steering currents and if an inbound cold front could help keep whatever this might be at bay down in the Gulf. As of the time of this writing on Sep. 29th, the models are not developing anything significant, which is a welcome sight. Time will tell so please stay tuned to the very latest on this situation.
