Description
Debby made its second landfall early Thursday morning along South Carolina's coast. It will move slowly through the Carolinas today before finally speeding up as it moves across the northeast.
The tropical wave we've been watching in the Caribbean Sea is about to move into Central America. Since it will soon be over land, it has a near-zero chance of developing.
A new area will need to be monitored into next week. An area of low pressure could form near the Caribbean islands by early/middle of next week. A long-term steering current could keep it from being an issue for the United States, but that is certainly not a guarantee. As we always say, we'll keep an eye on it, but it's no threat to the Gulf right now.
