Description
The National Hurricane Center is highlighting a medium chance for tropical development in the next seven days. Right now there is almost nothing visible to track, but models show a low-pressure area could start to organize some as it moves from the western Atlantic Ocean to somewhere roughly around the northern Caribbean or Bahamas in the first couple of days of August.
Long-range models differ on the eventual outcome. The European model shows it will develop somewhere near the Bahamas next weekend and curve around high pressure in the Atlantic. This could take it just east of the US East Coast. The American model does not show much organization at all and just has messy moisture drifting into the Caribbean next weekend. There will be some dry, dusty air which could limit development.
This is just an early look. It's too early to say how organized it will get or exactly where it could end up.
We'll continue to watch closely through this upcoming week. Right now, there are no threats for our part of the Gulf Coast through the next seven days.
