Description
WWL Louisiana meteorologist Alexa Trischler with the latest tracking of Hurricane Beryl in the Gulf of Mexico on News at Noon on Thursday.
Hurricane Beryl will impact the Cayman Islands on Thursday with heavy rain, strong wind, and storm surge. By Friday, Beryl is forecast to weaken a bit, though it'll still be a powerful hurricane as it reaches the Yucatan. Land interaction with the Yucatan should force Beryl to weaken even more to a tropical storm when it enters the southern Gulf of Mexico this weekend. It may regain some strength over the southwestern Gulf of Mexico. The official forecast re-strengthens Beryl to a Category 1 before landfall in either northeast Mexico or southern Texas by Monday. No local impacts are expected for the central and eastern Gulf Coast.
Invest 96 has a low chance of development as it moves through the Caribbean Sea in the same path as Beryl. However, some slow development is possible later this week, so it's something to watch in the long term.
