Description
The heat will be the focus for the next several days, likely reaching 90° for the first time this year at MSY. On average, the first 90° is May 18th. The earliest on record at the Airport is April 9, 2020, and the latest is June 30, 1983! We did reach 90° at Lakefront Airport with the average first 90° there being May 16th. We'll be flirting with record temps through as we near 90°+. A mix of sun and clouds with only a stray shower through Thursday.
A relatively weak upper trough will send a cold front through with a drop in temperatures and humidity starting Friday and lasting into early next week. Some scattered showers are possible with the front, but high temps will be closer to normal Friday and through the weekend. In fact, with mostly cloudy skies, temps may stay just below normal. Models not in agreement for a chance of some passing showers on Mother's Day, but going with a 40% chance at the moment.
