Description
PTC 16 has become better organized off the coast of Florida, NE of the Bahamas. It is expected to become Ophelia later today, impacting the mid-Atlantic states with rain, wind, and high surf. Heavy rain and wind will continue north into New Jersey and New York into the weekend before moving offshore.
Invest 90 in the Atlantic SE of Cabo Verde has a high chance for development within the next 3 to 7 days. Models seem to indicate this too will remain over the open Atlantic. After Ophelia is Philippe.
Long-range models also keep the Gulf and adjacent waters quiet through the next 10 days, so through October 1. As we tend to see the season settle for us by mid-October, which leaves 15 days, we'll still need to keep an eye on the tropics! We're getting closer!
