Description
Hurricane Lee is moving slowly but it's looking like there are better chances that the far northeast of the U.S. could see some impacts.
Sunday was the peak of hurricane season on average, but there are no threats for the Gulf Coast over the next week.
Hurricane Lee has returned to Category 3 status in the Atlantic Ocean north of the Caribbean Sea. It had jumped to a Category 5 storm on Thursday night, but wind shear weakened it to a Category 2 on Saturday night. Lee should keep moving west-northwest but is slowing down considerably through Wednesday as a high pressure area driving it weakens. Eventually a trough of low pressure should start to nudge it northward. Its intensity may bounce up and down a bit. Right now the National Hurricane Center has it regaining Category 4 status on Monday before dropping to a Category 1 late this week.
