Description
Hurricane Lee is expected to grow stronger over the coming days as it moves west-northwest in the Atlantic Ocean. The eventual steering may weaken early next week, causing the storm to slow down. Eventually, an upper trough over the Ohio Valley and U.S. East Coast will begin turning the storm north, hopefully threading the needle between the East Coast and Bermuda. However, it's imperative for Bermuda, the northern U.S. East Coast, and the Canadian Maritimes to keep a close watch on Lee.
At the very least, large swells and rip currents can be expected in the Caribbean this weekend and along the U.S. East Coast next week. Tropical Depression 14 has developed in the eastern Atlantic near Africa. This will stay in the open ocean. Long-range models are also keeping the Gulf of Mexico and adjacent waters quiet for the next 7 to 10 days.
