Description
Julia made landfall in Nicaragua near Laguna De Perlas at 3:15 am Sunday with winds of 85 mph.
It weakened to a tropical storm as it crossed westward over Nicaragua on Sunday. It is forecast to soon move into the Pacific Ocean as a tropical storm (it will keep the name Julia). It will likely continue weakening as it moves along the west coast of Central America on Monday. It is forecast to become a remnant low by Monday night.
There are no other active areas in the Atlantic basin, and no development is expected in the next five days or longer.
