Description
Two named storms, Danielle and Earl, are swirling in the Atlantic, but neither is headed anywhere near us.
The closest storm to us is Tropical Storm Earl which is a small system just northeast pf Puerto Rico. It will head north around through the weak and could become a major hurricane by Friday as it heads north/northeast over the open Atlantic. While Earl could stay just east of Bermuda, the island should monitor this system closely as it could approach by Late Thursday/Friday.

Much farther north in the Atlantic, Danielle is a Category 1 hurricane. It will start to speed up midweek as it heads northeast over the far north Atlantic north of the Azores. There will be cooler water plus more wind shear that will likely cause it to transition to a post-tropical system by Friday. Danielle is the first hurricane of the Atlantic season and is the 7th latest first hurricane in recorded history.
We're watching one final spot, a tropical wave moving off the coast of Africa. It has a low chance of tropical development in the next five days. We'll keep an eye on it, but right now long-range models have it fizzling in the central Atlantic.
There are no tropical threats to southeast Louisiana and the Gulf Coast.
