Payton Malone says in the Tuesday 10 AM tropical update that it looks like it could be a calm August but that doesn't mean it will be a calm season. For the ninth week in a row, there are zero active storms in the Atlantic basin and no threats to our local area. There are a few spots to watch for development this week, but none is a threat to us at this time. The spot in the Caribbean Sea we've been watching doesn't look like it will develop. Models take this one toward Yucatan and eventually into the extreme southwestern Gulf of Mexico.
