Description
The Columbus Arts Festival is returning this week.
Thousands are expected to attend the three-day event, which begins Friday, June 6 through Sunday, June 8.
The annual festival will feature more than 250 artists from across the country along with a wide variety of entertainment and food trucks.
“It’s like the only great show in Columbus, so this is the opportunity,” said returning artist Karina Llergo.
Chief Creative officer for Greater Columbus Arts Festival Jami Goldstein said around $2 million worth of art is sold each festival, generating both state and local sales tax.
“There’s so many mediums over here, so to come in and be able to absorb all that inspiration is just so heartwarming,” said first-time artist Jennifer Akese Burney, from Chicago.
With a fully-staffed crew, organizers emphasized that safety is front and center for the event.
“We work year-round with the Columbus Police Department and our coordinating committee to put safety plans in place, we have training for everyone, we have a policy: if you see something say something,” said Goldstein.
Columbus police will be on site throughout the entire weekend.
Organizers encourage that all children be accompanied by an adult.
