Description
Plain City is growing at a rapid rate, and the community is working to keep up with that growth.
The Depot at Public Square is now complete. It is phase one of an in-progress community project and stands ready for the village to use as a community and event space.

The Depot contains a rich history as it is an old rail station renovated from the 1880s.
Sitting on Church Street, the Public Square community project will become a vibrant hub for the village that will include a marketplace, splash pad and other community spaces when completed.
This story is part of 10TV's "Boomtown" initiative — our commitment to covering every angle of central Ohio's rapid growth. This includes highlighting success stories, shining a light on growing pains and seeking solutions to issues in your everyday life.
"I love the growth. I love that we have restaurants and places to walk to," said longtime resident Nicole Manring on the development of the area.
While the community continues to develop, village leaders have made it their mission to keep the small town charm and identity that many have come to love.
"As Plain City grows, we’ve done a lot of rebranding in recent years. We really want to preserve that history while pointing to the future," said Plain City Communications Manager Chase Evans.
Just up the road, businesses are thriving in uptown Plain City.
"As a business owner, as a community member, a resident and a mom with kids, I think there’s a lot of fun ideas about what’s going to happen over there," said an owner of Mainstreet Treasures on West Main Street about the project.
Future phases of the Public Square project include The Park at Public Square, which will include a railroad-themed play area, and The Marketplace at Public Square — an all-season event and vendor space for a year-round farmers market and a seasonal winter ice rink.
A grand opening for the Depot will be held Friday, June 13, from 4 to 7 p.m. at 134 Church Street in Plain City, Ohio.
The entire project expected to be completed sometime in the next two years.
