Headphones on her head, fingers on the controls, eyes fixed on the mixing software, Kwem Kimtai strings together Afro house beats during her DJ training in Nairobi. On the other side of the room, Vallerie Muthoni is finishing up her own set, carefully guided by DJ Shock. Both women are in an intensive four-week course at the Santuri Electronic Music Academy (SEMA), which they hope will open doors in a world historically dominated by men. "I'm glad that we have spaces where we are seen and we're taken as seriously as our male counterparts," says Muthoni. "Women are coming. The women are coming!"
