The government of El Salvador says it thwarted an attempt by fifty high school students to form a criminal gang. "We have managed to capture 46 individuals, including 14 minors, who were organizing to create a criminal structure that threatened to disrupt the peace and security that we have worked so hard to consolidate in our country," says Rodolfo Delgado, El Salvador's attorney general, at a press conference. This is the first time that authorities announce an attempted formation of a gang, called "La Raza" since President Nayib Bukele launched a "war" against gangs under an exceptional regime.
