Colorado drivers, listen up: If you've received a text that claims to be from the DMV about an unpaid ticket or driving violation, do not engage with it — it's probably a scam.
In an "urgent" warning issued Wednesday, the Colorado Division of Motor Vehicles (DMV) notified residents of a surge of fraudulent text messages from scammers impersonating the agency that threaten a list of severe consequences — including prosecution, suspension of vehicle registration and revocation of privileges — tied to a fake driving infringement or ticket.
