Description
Stockshots of the Afghanistan-Uzbekistan Friendship Bridge, which spans the Amu Darya River between the two countries.
Soviet troops withdrew over the bridge after the Soviet Union's invasion of Afghanistan (1979 to 1989), which resulted in a stinging defeat for Moscow that hastened the demise of the USSR. Today, the bridge provides an important link for trade between Afghanistan and Central Asia. STOCKSHOTS
