Description
Cuban justice will not intervene in the internal affairs of the island's Masonic community, which witnessed an unusual confrontation over its leadership over the weekend.
The Freemasons, who represent one of the most powerful and long-standing groups in Cuba, entered a heated debate when a group showed up outside the headquarters of the Grand Lodge, in Havana, to prevent a session presided by the current leader, whom they consider illegitimate.
"There will not be any interference in matters that are intrinsic to the functioning of Cuban Freemasonry," Cuban justice minister Oscar Manuel Silvera tells AFP in an interview. IMAGES AND SOUNDBITES
