A large and noisy crowd of people scramble to catch a glimpse of the casket carrying the body of Kenyan hawker Boniface Kariuki as it moves towards a grave and then is buried in his hometown, Kangema, which lies around 100 kilometres north of the capital Nairobi. Kariuki, a mask vendor, was shot at point-blank range by a police officer during a rally against police brutality in June and later died in a Nairobi hospital. That day, Kariuki was not protesting.
