Description
Aerial images show the partially built airport in Texcoco submerged by water from Lake Texcoco, which has swollen due to heavy rainfall.
The returning waters now cover large sections of the abandoned construction site near Mexico City, with only the occasional foundation or access road still visible above the expanding lakebed.
Construction of the airport, once intended to serve Mexico City, was halted in 2018 after it was rejected by public referendum. AERIAL SHOTS
