Paraguay's President Santiago Pena participates in a bilateral Paraguay-Taiwan investment forum alongside Taiwan's foreign Minister Lin Chia-Lung at the Cultural Center of the Port of Asuncion. "We want to show [Taiwanese businessmen] the vision we have, which is a very similar vision," says Pena during the forum. Paraguay is the only South American country that maintains relations with Taiwan, an island that China considers part of its territory and its recognition as a country by other nations is a reason for breaking diplomatic relations with Beijing.
