At sunrise in Rio de Janeiro, a group of children from the Turano favela participates in their first whale-watching trip, organized by the local NGO Favela Radical. The initiative aims to promote environmental education, emotional development, and social inclusion through direct contact with nature. "We have a purpose, focusing on action sports as tools for social transformation," says Jeff Quirino, founder of Favela Radical. "Today, as part of our networking within a partnership ecosystem, we bring students from our project, and, consequently, from the Turano favela, to take part in a whale-watching trip for the first time."
