Description
The collapse of shafts at the Lomera gold mine in the DR Congo's South Kivu province has trapped miners. The number of people underground and fatalities are still not confirmed. The area is controlled by the M23 armed group. "There's no work today because of the problem that's occurred. The well fell up there, and many people died, but we don't know exactly how many. We've been asked not to work," says Samuel Mufungizi, a digger at the mine. IMAGES AND SOUNDBITES
