Description
Around a hundred farmers from across France's Occitanie region spread manure and garbage and throw eggs at the offices of the EELV green party in Toulouse, in response to a petition to repeal the Duplomb law, a reform which aims to reintroduce a pesticide that is banned in France but allowed in the rest of Europe.
“if we stop this product, hazelnut production in France will be finished, sugar beet production will be finished, and all our sugar and hazelnuts will be imported from abroad, produced in disgusting conditions,” laments Guillaume Mercadal, spokesperson for a farmers' union in Tarn-et-Garonne.
