Every evening, the crew of the Stereden Ar Moor leave the port of Douarnenez in western France to go 'hunting' for sardines off the tip of Brittany, a gruelling task that stretches into the early hours of the morning to satisfy demand from canneries and barbecuing tourists. After several sluggish years, the catches have returned to a decent size this summer: "It's great to see sardines like this," says Ludo Garrec, the ship's skipper. IMAGES AND SOUNDBITES
